Clinimetrix, aka CMx, the who? the why? and the how?

A short history....

I started building Clinimetrix (CMx) in 2016. It was in response to the rather poor outputs of practice management software (PMS) when it came to any type of understanding of the business. Although in the last 5 years that has changed a little, most PMS’s still provide simple linear outputs with no way of making deductive steps once the search has taken place.

Learnings, updates, and improvements--from a consortium of industry experts

CMx, over the past 5 years, has become somewhat of a passion and grown significantly from its first iteration with input from many GPs, nurses, finance and operational staff, not only in our own practices, but across our client base.

Not just the financial metrics, lets focus on clinical outcomes

The first builds of CMx were all about understanding the numbers, how many patients and their demographics, what item codes were used and how practitioners behaved. In less than a couple of months from launch our nursing team identified a way to use the software to assess the patients who had and had not been seen for key items. This started with cycles of care and health assessments and quickly grew to include other clinical assessments.

Opportunities to improve culture and awareness in general practice

With each new question came an opportunity to add to the nature of queries and expand from being a financial tool for management to a clinical support product for patients. Although it took a couple of years to get the majority of GPs on board, today their feedback drives the way we build solutions into CMx. Our clinical adviser, Dr R Tomlins, not only created a number of our key searches but is now working on a research paper based around the detailed data only CMx can provide.

Upskilling our sector to read and understand the data

Clinimetrix today takes a very different view of the information it works with. The limited data sets of five years ago are now replaced with the view that “if the data exists, let's study it”. Our challenge now is presenting it in a way that makes it easy to understand and provide unlimited flexibility in the way that searches and extracts are done.

With just a handful of clicks, CMx lets our staff and customers go in (literally) any direction they wish--from a clinical review of conditions, observations and medications, to the number of people from a specific postcode who attended last week, or what are my billings for the last week/month/year, or 5 years...

It does all the searches that other tools do collectively and more.

What makes me most proud of what CMx has become is that we never took the view that the user should be limited in their search journey. It does all the searches that other tools do collectively and more. When we get requests for added features more often than not it is already there or a few minor steps to update. And what is available to our teams, or a specific customer, is available to all within a day.

Our team work closely with our operational teams in clinic, and doctors, everyday so we live the user issues just like our customers do.

A CMx user was informed they had a person with Covid19 enter their practice; "Clinimetrix is a life saver! We did not receive the QR registrations, yet we were able to identify exactly who was in the practice, extract contact info, and speak to patients immediately." September 2021

Thanks to Clinimetrix, our practice billed $126,000 in the month of May [2021] on preventative health consults. Cathie, June 2021.
